All that doesn’t sound like a lot but I do feel accomplished and I also feel like getting more rest. My back is again in „grandpa mode“ and I should sleep to make it through the next tough days: 3 days in Rabat, departure from Casa to Lisbon, then 3 nights in Lisbon, 4 nights in Madrid and 5 nights in Barcelona followed by 4 nights in Toulouse.

I appreciate you.

…Oh, and I also pre-bookmarked all studios I could find in Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona and Toulouse - and in other Spanish cities but for this trip I won’t be covering them.

…I’ll call more studios in Rabatt tomorrow morning before my scheduled meeting with another studio owner.

After that I worked on the website (studiolist.io), added those Moroccan studies that agreed on being listed there already and I made the next important bookings (bus trips and accommodation for Portugal and Spain, basically Lisbon-Madrid-Barcelona from Feb 24 to Mar 7)…

It’s my last full day here in Casablanca. I spent my time sleeping long so I can recover even more. After I did the day job for a few hours, then did organizational stuff, had breakfast/lunch and contacted more studios, also those in Rabat…

This was day 19 of 120, I’m validating my 👷‍♂️ startup studiolist.io within 4 months while traveling and working (day job, voiceover). If there’s no market validation until Jun 1, 2019 the startup 🧟‍♂️ dies.

What I’m struggling with is faux-nice treatment. So, overall it was a good experience in the restaurant but I would have liked more straightforward way of communication. But that’s just me, and I’m maybe weird.

I finished the day with a visit at my local mini supermarché. It’s just next door from the hotel and I can buy water, orange juice and snacks there. And one guy speaks English as well. He wants to open his own little shop so he can travel Germany and Europe. I wish him success…

Later, in the restaurant, the food (tajine in almond) was very good - the fat played its part. But I was like the uninvited participant because I had no reservation and they gave me a seat anyway. That was good, I thought, in the first place but later I got the impression that they wanted me out as soon as possible. Then my conclusion is: Don’t give me a seat and have me as a guest. Instead, tell me I need a reservation in order to eat. I can handle direct speech…

…And if every studio was doing that well there would be no need for studiolist but I’ll see.

At my hotel (Point Du Jour), I had another good conversation with Jalal. He helped finding the restaurant where I ate and gave me a tip for going to Rabatt. Actually, every 30 minutes a train goes from Casablanca to Rabatt. The price is 45 Dirham.

The meeting at the studio Plug-in, not far from the DBF Studios, was good. Thomas was very friendly and kind. It was a good combination although they have no immediate need for studiolist.io since they’re busy with a lot of work and currently expanding. Having to deal with another construction site like the partnership with studiolist would be plus de travel and plus de stress for them. I understand and I’m happy that they’re doing good…

Essentially not a super fruitful day but at least I had one more meeting at a studio, did the day job and slept so I felt partly recovered. I know I could’ve done more and take advantage of the situation that I’m in Morocco but I need to tackle my health as a priority because I want to feel better again and start the morning again with coughing and a headache.

An interesting day, a full day and also a fulfilling day. I sometimes feel a bit lonely/socially isolated though I’m meeting people. Maybe that’s the game that I’m playing or the price that I’m paying as a . If I hire my first employee (with whatever venture, it doesn’t have to be studiolist.io), I’ll be super happy. I know I want a team/workforce that is as crazy as I am!

I appreciate you.

At , I rewarded myself with the first real meal of the day. What a blessing. Yes, fast food again but this chawarma. Healthy? Well, with all the fat and stuff not so much.

After, I started working on the day job (cos my one-week sabbatical was over) for a few hours. Towards the end of the day, I had another meeting and I also found more studios to contact. Very good!

After my meeting with Adil, I called all the other studios I had called on Saturday, partly successful. But a big step was to connect to DBF Studios. As I learned today, after Studio Hiba (in Sidi Bernoussi) they are the no. 2 in terms of fame, popularity or production quality. Though I’m not sure what the Moroccan-internal ranking actually means.

…After all, I’m still only a writer observing my environment and documenting my thoughts explicitly and sometimes metaphorically.

In the morning I also felt pretty sick (again or still, I honestly don’t know). This changing weather here in Casablanca stresses my body and I’m not helping it with my fast food consumption. Overall, I’m surviving which is good and also the point of life.

The morning started with a meeting of a new studio owner, Adil and his ADL Studio in Casablanca. A friendly man who knows what he’s doing and is well-equipped. I’m very happy I had the chance to meet him. He was a bit late but honestly, he was so apologetic that I hadn’t even thought of being upset in any way. Maybe it’s a sign that I’ve adapted to Moroccan non-punctuality. Or I just preferred to save my nerves and train my observation muscles…

What a long day. I can’t even believe that it’s been only one day and not two. That’s a good sign, I believe.

Good things are happening in the world. It’s just a matter of being connected to those and not letting yourself distract from stuff that’s drowning. In the words of a garyvee - not giving a fuck has an ROI, it’s the speed of execution by pure dedication on execution. Go do!
